How do I prepare for my tattoo?

Before your tattoo appointment, stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and get a good night's sleep. Avoid alcohol and drugs for at least 24 hours beforehand, as they can thin your blood. Eat a healthy meal to stabilize your blood sugar levels and communicate any concerns or questions with your artist.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY TATTOO SESSION?

Dress appropriately: Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area where you will be getting tattooed. It’s more important to be comfortable than to be fashionable. Looser is better than tighter, and keep in mind you want to be able to cover up certain places that might show, depending on where you're getting your tattoo.

WILL IT HURT?

WHAT IS THE PAIN LEVEL FOR A TATTOO?

Tattoo pain varies depending on factors like location, size, and pain tolerance. Generally, it feels like a mild to moderate burning or scratching sensation, similar to a sunburn or cat scratch. Sensitive areas like the ribs, feet, hands, and genitals may hurt more. Larger or detailed tattoos may also result in more discomfort.

AFTER CARE

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL AFTER A TATTOO/PIERCING?

Tattoo or piercing healing time varies based on size, location, immune system, and aftercare. Generally, the initial healing period for a tattoo lasts 2-3 weeks, with redness, swelling, and tenderness. Over the next 4-6 weeks, skin may flake or peel. It can take months for the skin to fully regenerate and for the tattoo to settle.

WHY DO TATTOOS START TO ITCH WHILE HEALING?

Tattoo itching is common during the healing process due to new skin growth, scabbing, flaking, dryness, or rare allergic reactions. Avoid scratching or picking to prevent scarring or infection. Instead, soothe the skin with a cool, damp cloth or fragrance-free moisturizer.

PRICING

WHY DO YOU REQUIRE DEPOSITS?

Deposits are typically required to book a tattoo appointment, and they are usually non-refundable, meaning that if you cancel your appointment or do not show up, you may lose your deposit. Tattoo artists often have a busy schedule, and requiring a deposit ensures that their time is respected and compensated for. Materials and supplies: Tattoo artists need to purchase and maintain a variety of materials and supplies, and a deposit helps to cover these costs. Cancellations and no-shows: Unfortunately, cancellations and no-shows can be a common problem in the tattoo industry. Requiring a deposit helps to reduce the risk of last-minute cancellations and ensures that the artist is compensated for their time and effort. Custom designs: If you are requesting a custom tattoo design, the artist may spend several hours or days creating the design, and a deposit helps to compensate them for this work.

WHAT IS YOUR SHOP MINIMUM FOR TATTOOS?

Our shop minimum for tattoo’s is at R900. This would be for the smallest tattoo, as the set up cost for a small tattoo and large tattoo require the same preparation in regards to materials and supplies to set up, prepare the surface (hygiene) etc…

POLICY

WHAT IS THE AGE REQUIREMENT FOR GETTING PIERCED OR TATTOOED?

The minimum legal age for tattoos is 18, and we require clients to sign an indemnity form to release us from any liabilities. If a minor wants a tattoo, a parent or guardian must accompany them and sign the form on their behalf.

SHOULD I WALK IN OR BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

Booking an appointment is usually the best option for getting a tattoo or piercing, especially with our popular studio and artist styles. While walk-ins are welcome, it's recommended to email or call ahead to check availability.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I’M LATE TO MY APPOINTMENT?

Please inform your artist if you are running late or know you will be late for your appointment. Timely communication is appreciated to avoid any confusion. Keep in mind that arriving late may result in less time for your tattoo, especially for larger pieces.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NO-SHOW DURING MY APPOINTMENT?

Deposits are non-refundable and go directly to the artist who has lost income for the day. Cancelling may affect your relationship with your preferred artist. If you choose to reschedule, a new deposit will be required.
